One of the first displays upon entering the Fuji X-PRO2 Launch and 5th Anniversary of the X Series Celebration was this very cool, artistic demonstration of the new Fuji XP90 Freezeproof digital cameras FROZEN SOLID in a huge block of ice. Point made, and very creative way of doing it. Great conversation piece. Wonderful display.
Fuji did a great job of not only choosing a great venue like Toronto’s Brickworks, a very interesting place with lots intriguing sights to photograph, but they also had a lot of exhibits and interesting things to shoot at various spots throughout the Celebration. This old, fire-engine red, Mercury Pick-up Truck was one of them.
These school bus doors affixed to a shipping container elevated above me was just one of many other examples of eye catching scenes that begged to be photographed. Silly me, I remembered to pack everything for the trip down to Toronto EXCEPT a camera. Luckily, I still had my Samsung Galaxy S5 with me, which, while not being my top choice, can still capture a few, not bad photos nonetheless.
And here we see one of the STARS OF THE SHOW, the venerable new Fuji 100-400mm lens in all it’s glory.
Fuji also had some great talent on hand, both for entertainment and for interesting subjects to take pictures of. This beautiful young lady was very talented as you can see.
And what’s a celebration without juggling! Although he was no Penn Jillette, the juggler still made for an interesting photo subject, AND he didn’t seem to mind that most of the cameras were focused on the young lady in the trapeze ring. 🙂
I had a chance to play with the new Fuji X-PRO2, and I can tell you that it’s one VERY impressive camera. From the few minutes I spent with it, I’m confident in saying that it has the best autofocus yet of any Fuji X camera, and the whole design in general is EXCELLENT. I came away REALLY liking the X-PRO2, and I think it’s going to be a run-away hit for Fuji.
The new Fuji 100-400mm is very nice too. Focus was fast and accurate on the Fuji X-T1 cameras that Fuji had it mounted on display with, and I was able to track and shoot the skaters out on the ice rink with no problem at all. My bet is that this new 100-400mm lens is also going to be a BIG hit among Fuji shooters.
Also on display was the new Fuji X70, which looks to be a very interesting little camera in it’s own right. Full APS-C sensor, touch screen, all in a tiny body that fits in your pocket. Lots to like here!
Many thanks to Fuji for a GREAT afternoon and for feeding both me and my gear lust (although I’m not sure thanks are in order for that second one as it always costs me money 🙂
